Terms of Use

1. Who Can Use StatNation (Eligibility)

In short: you must be old enough, and kids need a parent's permission.

You must be at least 13 years old to create a StatNation account. If you are between 13 and the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

Children under 13. StatNation accounts are not available to children under 13. However, StatNation is a youth-sports product, and information about players under 13 (such as a young athlete's name, jersey number, and game statistics) may be entered into the Service by a coach, team statistician, or parent. That information may only be entered by an adult who is authorized to do so and who has obtained any consent required from the child's parent or guardian. Section 6 explains these responsibilities in more detail.

You are also responsible for complying with the rules of any league, association, school, or organization you participate in through the Service. Using StatNation does not override those rules.

2. The Service

StatNation is a basketball statistics and team-analytics platform. Depending on your role and subscription tier, the Service lets you build rosters, track live game and player statistics, view performance insights and AI-assisted summaries, generate and share stat cards and reports, and follow a player or team across a season.

Informational purposes only. All statistics, insights, shot charts, trends, and AI-generated summaries are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. They may contain errors, depend on the accuracy of what was entered during a game, and should not be relied on as professional, medical, athletic, recruiting, or other advice. StatNation is an analytics tool, not a scouting service, coach, trainer, or medical provider. You are responsible for any decisions you make based on the Service.

We are always improving StatNation, so features may be added, changed, or removed, and availability may vary by platform, region, and subscription tier.

3. Your Account and Team Roles

In short: keep your login secure, keep your info accurate, and only take on a role you're actually authorized to hold.

To use most features you must create an account and provide accurate, current information. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, and for keeping your login credentials confidential. You may not share your password, let someone else use your account, or create an account for anyone other than yourself (except that an authorized organization representative may set up accounts as permitted by the Service). Notify us promptly at coach@statnation.app if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization. We may treat anyone logging in with your credentials as you.

The Service uses role-based access, which may include roles such as Owner, Head Coach, Assistant Coach / Team Manager, Parent, and Player. Each role has different permissions to view, enter, edit, or share data. Access to a player's information through a Parent or Player role requires authorization from the team's Owner or Head Coach. You agree to only request or accept a role you are genuinely entitled to hold, and the team Owner and Head Coach are responsible for granting roles appropriately.

4. License to Use StatNation

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to download and use the StatNation app on an Apple-branded device that you own or control, and to access the Service, solely for your own non-commercial use in connection with your team or family.

You may not, and may not permit anyone else to: copy, modify, translate, or create derivative works of the Service; reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of it (except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law); rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialize the Service; remove or obscure any proprietary notices; or use the Service other than as expressly permitted here.

5. Your Content and Team Data

In short: your content stays yours. You give us permission to host and use it to run StatNation, and you promise you have the right to submit it.

"User Content" means anything you or your team submit to or create through the Service, including rosters, player names and numbers, game and statistical data, shot-chart entries, notes, photos, logos, exports, and stat cards.

You keep ownership of your User Content. You grant StatNation a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, adapt, and display your User Content for the purpose of operating, providing, securing, and improving the Service and as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy. This includes generating statistics, insights, AI summaries, and shareable outputs from the data you enter, and creating de-identified or aggregated data as described below. We do not claim ownership of your User Content and we will not sell it.

Your promises about your content. You represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights to your User Content, that you have obtained every consent required from the individuals it concerns (including, where the content involves a minor, from that minor's parent or guardian), and that your User Content does not violate any law or the rights of any third party.

De-identified and aggregated data. We may create and use de-identified, anonymized, or aggregated data derived from User Content (for example, to improve our statistics engine, train or evaluate features, or understand usage). This data does not identify any individual and is not treated as User Content.

Accuracy and retention. We are not responsible for the accuracy of statistics or other User Content, which depends on what your team enters. For continuity of team history, certain records may be retained in de-personalized form even after an account is closed, as described in Section 12 and our Privacy Policy.

6. Youth Athletes and Consent

In short: because this is about kids' games, the adults entering and sharing data are responsible for having the right permissions.

StatNation is used to record information about youth athletes, including minors. Protecting that information matters to us, and the responsibility for consent sits with the adults using the Service.

If you enter, edit, or share information about a minor, you represent that you are the minor's parent or guardian, or that you are a coach, team statistician, or other authorized adult who has obtained the consent required under applicable law and your league's or organization's rules. Team Owners and Head Coaches are responsible for their team's player data and for handling any objection, complaint, or privacy request from a family on their roster; these responsibilities cannot be delegated to StatNation.

If a parent or guardian withdraws consent, or asks that a child's information be removed, the responsible Owner, Head Coach, or authorized adult must promptly remove or stop sharing that information. If we become aware that information about a minor has been provided or shared without the required consent, we may remove it and, where appropriate, suspend the associated account. We may also ask you to verify that you have obtained any required consent.

7. Purchases, Pro and Plus, and Billing

In short: StatNation has a free tier plus paid tiers (Pro and Plus). Apple processes app purchases. Please read the auto-renewal terms if you buy a recurring plan.

StatNation offers a free tier along with paid tiers, currently StatNation Pro and StatNation Plus (each a "Paid Tier"), which unlock additional features such as full season history, advanced stats, and expanded sharing. The specific features and prices of each tier are described in the Service and may change over time.

How you buy. Purchases made through the app are processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple's terms and payment policies. Apple, not StatNation, handles the transaction, and you manage and cancel App Store purchases through your Apple ID account settings. Where we offer a purchase directly (for example, through our website), it may be processed by a third-party payment provider such as Stripe under their terms.

One-time unlocks and subscriptions. A Paid Tier may be offered as a one-time unlock or as a recurring subscription, as stated at the point of purchase.

• One-time unlocks grant the described features without a recurring charge, subject to any stated duration or limits.
• Recurring subscriptions automatically renew. You acknowledge and agree that, unless you cancel, your subscription will renew at the end of each billing period and the applicable payment method will be charged the then-current price, plus any taxes, at the start of each new period. You can turn off auto-renewal at any time through your App Store subscription settings (or the settings of whichever provider you purchased through); cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and turning off auto-renewal does not reverse a charge that has already been made. We may change prices or the features of a tier on a going-forward basis, and any price change to a recurring subscription will apply to renewals after we give you notice as required by applicable law and the app store.

Taxes. Prices may not include taxes. You are responsible for any applicable sales, use, or similar taxes, other than taxes on our income.

Refunds. Except where required by law or by the policies of Apple or our payment provider, fees are non-refundable once the corresponding features have been delivered or the subscription period has begun. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.

Free tier and changes. We may offer, modify, or discontinue the free tier or any Paid Tier, and we may change which features are free or paid, at our discretion and on a going-forward basis. We will not remove a feature you have already paid for during a paid period that specifically includes it, except as required for legal, security, or technical reasons.

8. Sharing and Exports

The Service may let you generate and share stat cards, reports, and other exports, which may include StatNation branding. When you share content — including posting a player's stats to social media or sending them to family — you are responsible for ensuring you have the right to do so, including any consent required for content involving a minor. You are responsible for what you choose to make public.

9. Acceptable Use

In short: don't break the law, break the Service, or misuse other people's data.

You agree not to, and not to allow anyone else to:

• use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive purpose, or in violation of these Terms;
• upload or share content that is defamatory, obscene, harassing, hateful, threatening, or that infringes or violates anyone's rights;
• enter or share information about another person, including a minor, without the authorization or consent required under Sections 1 and 6;
• access or attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to reach, or interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or networks;
• introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful code, or attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service;
• scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Service, or use bots or automated means to access it, except as we expressly permit;
• copy, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the Service except as allowed in Section 4;
• use the Service, or data obtained from it, to build or assist a competing product or service; or
• misuse, resell, or commercialize the Service or other users' data.

We may investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including removing content, and suspending or terminating accounts (Section 12).

10. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, statistics engine, AI features, and the "StatNation" name and logo, is owned by StatNation or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property and other laws. Except for the license granted to you in Section 4, we reserve all rights in the Service. You may use our name and logos only to identify authorized use of the Service, and not in any way that suggests sponsorship or endorsement without our prior written permission.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on and may link to third-party services — for example, Apple for app distribution and payments, and providers for authentication, analytics, payments, hosting, and AI features. Your use of a third party's service is governed by that third party's terms and privacy policy, and we are not responsible for third-party services, their content, or their practices. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement.

12. Suspension, Termination, and Account Deletion

You may stop using the Service at any time, and you may request account deletion through the app's settings or by emailing coach@statnation.app.

We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, if required by law or an app store, to protect the Service or other users, or if we discontinue the Service.

When an account is deleted or terminated, we will delete or de-identify personal information as described in our Privacy Policy. For continuity of team records, certain team and game statistics may be retained in a de-personalized form (for example, aggregate team history that no longer identifies an individual player). Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 5, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 — will continue to apply.

13. Disclaimers

In short: we work hard to make StatNation good, but we can't promise it's perfect or error-free, and it isn't a backup service.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT AND MATERIALS IN IT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; that statistics, insights, or AI summaries will be accurate or complete; or that defects will be corrected. StatNation is not a backup service, and we are not responsible for any loss of User Content or data. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything important to you.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you. In that case, any legally required warranties are limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

14. Limitation of Liability

In short: if something goes wrong, our financial responsibility is capped.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STATNATION AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED CANADIAN DOLLARS (CAD $100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

15. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless StatNation and its owners, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to: your User Content; your use of the Service; your sharing of information about any person, including a minor; your violation of these Terms; or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

16. Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Alberta, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to Section 17, you and StatNation agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Alberta, Canada for any dispute not resolved informally, except that either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property or confidential information. Nothing in this section removes any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of the place where you live, and the Apple App Store terms referenced in Section 18 continue to apply to disputes about App Store purchases.

17. Dispute Resolution and Time Limit on Claims

In short: if you have a problem, contact us first so we can try to fix it — and there's a deadline to bring a formal claim.

Talk to us first. Before filing any formal legal claim, you agree to contact us at coach@statnation.app with a description of the issue and to work with us in good faith to resolve it for at least 30 days. Most problems can be resolved this way.

Time limit. To the extent permitted by law, any claim you bring arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service must be commenced within one (1) year after the event giving rise to the claim; otherwise, that claim is permanently barred.

We have chosen not to require binding arbitration or to impose a class-action waiver. You retain whatever rights you have under applicable law to bring a claim, subject to the governing-law, jurisdiction, and time-limit provisions above.

18. Apple App Store Terms

Because StatNation is distributed through the Apple App Store, the following applies to your use of the app on Apple devices:

• These Terms are between you and StatNation only, not with Apple. StatNation, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
• To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the app, and any claims relating to the app's failure to conform to a warranty are the responsibility of StatNation, subject to Sections 13 and 14.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims you or a third party have relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, or claims under consumer-protection or privacy law. Any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual-property rights is StatNation's responsibility as set out in these Terms.
• You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting," and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance Apple has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
• You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement (such as your wireless carrier's terms) when using the app.

19. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the app, by email, or by posting the updated Terms with a new "Last updated" date. Changes are effective when posted unless we say otherwise. By continuing to use the Service after changes take effect, you agree to the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service.

20. General

Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and StatNation regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements on the subject.

Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary, or severed, and the remaining provisions will stay in effect.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.

Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, or to an affiliate.

No agency. These Terms do not create any partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship between you and StatNation.

Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
